Our
Design Philosophy
"a what??"
Truth be told, we believe that every designer should have a design philosophy.
A designer should clearly know and be able to be explain why they design
they way they do. If they can't, they're either not a designer, or they
lack passion for what they do. That said, would you want that person
working on your project?
So what about MedDevi Ink? Well, we have a unique approach to
design that's a distinct blend of fine art, good business sense, and
the desire to help our clients show the world their best face.
Fine Art Meets Design
There's two ways to approach graphic design...from a technical aspect,
or from a visual aspect. We are the latter, as we come from a trained
fine art background. We prefer to envision the whole idea, rather than
analyze from parts. If you can see everything you want your audience
to see, then you can more perfectly devise the parts necessary to create
the most powerful effect throughout. And while regular graphic design
can work over your audience mentally, integrating fine art allows your
target to be visually, emotionally, and mentally connected to the idea
you are trying to get across.
Good Business Sense & Best Face Forward
Perhaps it's the result of being the daughter of an independent Jewish
businessman, or being active in retail/sales since late childhood, but
there's definitely a keen sense for presenting other people's businesses...
What is good business sense when it comes to design? Well, your
website and promotional materials is your face to the world.
It's an expression of who you are, what you do, and can embody your
essence to the world. It
needs to be clean, effective and cohesive; easy to understand, navigate,
and visually stimulating within a glance. It needs to say everything
you can't be there to say personally. Art and design is visual
communication. We feel that our clients deserve to have the best interpretation
of their ideas out there, and in turn, they set the standards and/or
raise the bar in their communities and areas of expertise.
Whistles and Bells?
We don't do Flash, or any other fancy animation, besides java-scripting
(rollovers, etc). Why? Well, while animation is cool, it takes a lot
of time to download, and once your viewer has seen it, that's it. It
begins to lose cool points when they have to go through it every time.
Some designers also use it as a crutch to take away attention from the
basic areas they're lacking in, like good organization. We believe the
key is to encourage your audience to come back again and again, to see
what's new and exciting. Long-loading animation deters that desire greatly.
We prefer simple, effective layouts that allow for the maximum audience
possible.
